i may be an interior design school drop-out, but that doesn’t mean i don’t love putting rooms together! (it just means i don’t like supportive learning environments. but that’s another rant for another time…) so welcome to part one in a new series i’m calling decorate! pilgrim. see what i did there? i know right, hilarity ensues. my aim for this feature is to show you my prints in a context, and to show you ways that you could decorate with my work. you may have seen my prints, but perhaps i can show them to you in a different perspective? also, this is a way for me to vicariously live out all kinds of styles. i hope you enjoy what i put together.

i thought i’d start off with my smallest print so far, the ahoy! print. and where could it live? well first up, my clean mod style meets a distressed and salvaged style of say, an old sailor’s cabin:

the obvious connection is the colors, however i’ve also made an effort to match the patterns and themes of the print with the furnishings. the rug looks like fishing net, wouldn’t you agree? and the clock reflects the ship’s wheel in the print, as well as resembling a compass. it’s a pretty plush old captain’s cabin haha

aruba.. jamaica, ooh i wanna take you to key lago, montego.. sorry. now kokomo will be in your head all day. but i hope you find this ‘room’ as refreshing as a pina colada on a pristine white island beach! in this ‘room’ i’ve moved away from the themes of the print and just played with the colors. the patterns of the rug correspond to the side table’s cut-outs, and the pinwheel cushions. the studded headboard and chair match, though there is pleasant contrast between the shiny vinyl, and the plush velvet. would you enjoy staying in a hotel room like this? i often feel out of place in hotel rooms because they’re colour palettes are so inoffensive. we all know how much i love colour.

the mod bachelor is a sophisticated gent! he enjoyed the muted cool palette of the ahoy! print because it reminded him of his bitossi pottery collection. paired with some teak and some martini olive green pieces and this place is ready to swing. are you hip to his jive?
what do you think, have these rooms cast new light on my ahoy! design? which room do you enjoy the most?
