BINGO! the rousing game for all ages… and now you can play it at your draw! pilgrim styled party. available for you today are five different pages with 2 unique game sheets per page. this bingo set is good for up to ten players. i’d have loved to do more for you, but time didn’t allow it. if you’re game you could make more unique sheets by cutting up a couple of existing games and doing some canny glueing etc.

chocolate crackles

today’s birthday month download is a recipe card for an australian kid’s party classic: chocolate crackles! these are no-bake treats that even the kiddos can help make. mmm cocoa, rice krispies (or rice bubbles as they’re known here in australia) coconut and a hearty serving of vegetable shortening will surely power three hours of chasey, egg & spoon race, duck-duck-goose, and pass the parcel!

cootie catcher? more like CUTIE catcher! did you play with cootie catchers (or maybe you called them ‘fortune tellers’) at school? even now, i think they’re pretty fun, and since designing this one my son has become a big fan too!

the template i’ve designed fits in with the ‘pinwheels and bunting theme’ and the fortunes inside are more like cute little tasks your partner must perform, but don’t worry its nothing too demanding. see…

and if its been a while since you made one of these, never fear – it does come with folding instructions

don’t you think these would make fun ice breakers, or amusements at your party?

blogging got a bit away from me this week – there was cake to be eaten, and presents to be eaten opened, and much merriment to be had. anyway, to make up for skipping a day, today’s post consists of TWO birthday month downloads: cupcake papers and a cupcake topper.

the papers are for slipping over the papers you bake in, so don’t be pouring batter in these beauties because they don’t work that way: they’re strictly for decorative purposes. and the cupcake toppers are easy: print and cut out the circles, take a toothpick and some double sided tape and stick a ‘front’ circle to a ‘back’ circle over the top of the pick. ta-da: a topper is born. now get busy eating that cupcake!

i’m pretty sure in some paces its illegal to have a birthday party without cake. its a tough call, but cake must be eaten. so here for your consideration is one of my favorite cakes – the hummingbird! whether named for its nectar-like sweetness or because it makes you hum ‘mm-mmmm, delicious!’ this cake is pretty hard to get wrong. its moist and satisfying, filled with banana, coconut and pineapple then topped with cool cream cheese frosting. although i’ve made it as a full cake before, i really enjoy it in cupcake form best and this recipe card will make a generous amount to please your party guests!

ps: still got cupcakes left after all the guests have gone home? do what i do for a late night luxurious treat: unwrap your cupcake. place upside down in a bowl and pour a shot of rum or a matching flavored liqueur over your cake – eg: butterscotch schnapps and vanilla cupcake, or cointreau with chocolate cupcake. microwave just long enough to warm the cake. serve topped with cream or left over frosting. mmm decadent and un-wasteful! we “invented” this treat while having a 30 rock marathon one weekend, so it known as the twofer in honor of the character and because its a twofer: cake and booze! i think liz lemon would approve, don’t you?

today’s printable ‘happy birthday’ bunting/sign proved too impossible to photograph, so in lieu of a pic, here is an illustration. and of course click the link below for an A4 sized sheet you can print, cut and hang:

* HAPPY BIRTHDAY! *

i recommend punching two holes in the top of the circles, once cut out, and threading ribbon or twine through. use double sided tape to ensure the circle doesn’t slide around on the ribbon. hang it and get partying!
