its time to decorate with draw! pilgrim’s alphabet print in ‘gum ball’ colorway. this post is something of an experiment, the gum ball color way has never been as hugely popular as the sundae color print, so i’m taking pre-orders before i get new stock of this bright pop color way!

If you’re anything like this family, you spend 90% of your time in your living room… living. so make it bright and fun to match the energy of your bunch! break up some blocks of color with sassy stripes and jazzy cushions. i’m a huge fan of white walls and colorful stuff. this is especially good news considering i’m a renter doomed to cream walls forever! click the pic for product info.

i really can’t get on the bland baby’s room bandwagon (i can’t get on any bandwagon – old sporting injury, y’see). i’m firmly of the opinion that if you’re going to spend your adulthood in beige and gray and black and blah then at least have a colorful childhood. babies in beige? no sir. babies deserve fresh, sweet, gelato colors! I say make the decor fun and whimsical because new life deserves to enjoy all the fun and dazzle that one can stand. click the pic for product info.

do you see the desk? it has pencils. for. legs. and a spiral binding detail. do i really need to explain any more?! good luck getting any serious work done on that sucker! and the rug matches the print like a match made in heaven, so if you buy one, promise me you’ll buy the other (buy the print first though ha!) click the pic for product info.

seventies living room

welcome to decorate! pilgrim post. in these posts i put together polyvore rooms inspired by a draw! pilgrim print. this time its the letter Z from my alphabet series.

no one does burnt orange and brown like those folks in the 70s, so above, i took their lead and put together a sophisticate retro space. product information here.

happy camper bedroom

i love challenging myself to come up with fun kid’s spaces, and this room takes some inspiration from camping. thick blankets, a picnic table for drawing and that fun log fire lamp give it some outdoorsy cheek. and mess is always allowed in rustic rooms, of course! keep that tower of books coming! product information here.

autumnal dining room

this autumnal room mixes up the colors and textures of food, and leather with a big pop of color from the wall hanging, and the mixed glass ornaments. settle in here on a crisp autumn evening for a fondue supper! product information here.

decorate! pilgrim
i haven’t done a decorate! pilgrim post in a while because, well basically i’m lazy.. and fussy. it takes a lot of trawling through polyvore, and my unconventional tastes mean it takes three times as long for me to find things i like. but after some nice comments on my previous post i made some effort and guess what? i had fun! so feel free to get bossy in the comments any time, readers. its good motivation!

this edition of decorate! pilgrim is created around the J print from my alphabet series. i have a major crush on the yellow and green color combination at the moment. its so fresh and sunny. it’s quite the turnaround considering i used to hate yellow and green together: australia’s colors are “green and gold” and so i’ve seen an awful lot of ugly olympic uniforms in dark green and yellow. but a lime, or kelly green and a warm yellow is truly a thing of beauty, am i right?

everyone knows the best work is done inside of a daffodil! this office space would never be dull and uninspiring.

what do you think of this color combination? is there a room you most like here – or are you living amongst some yellow and green already?

for this month’s decorate! pilgrim post, i’m featuring my scandinavian folk print available here. when it comes to christmas i’m mostly a green and red girl, but i admit i get a bit envious when see icy blue and white christmas trees. this print evokes the crisp, and chilly scandinavian winters, but injects some warm folky warmth. but onto the rooms:

the original inspiration for my scandinavian folk print was my grandma rowie’s kitchen. she had a very groovy 70s red and blue mod folk styled kitchen. she had a blue gloss painted china cabinet, red gloss chairs and a kitschy folk patterned fabric table cloth. i loved spending time drawing at her table while my mum and rowie gossiped over coffee. the above space comes off quite ‘english countryside’ i thought.. wouldn’t you like to sit at that table and husk some fresh strawberries?

a lot of people comment on how they love my prints but feel, as adults, they can’t hang them in their rooms. to them i say, sure my style is bold and playful but doesn’t adulthood need more of that?! that said, this print would look charming in a fun and european inspired nursery don’t you think? primary colors, simple shapes and good old fashioned toys.

frosty christmas: click for product info

lastly, something a bit festive and frosty. i am so envious of those with white Christmases. the few i’ve had in england were magical and felt ‘right’. sophisticated large pieces of furniture provide a great base to add whimsy upon. you’re a grown up now: you can be trusted with white linen – but that doesn’t mean you can’t hang a stocking on your bed for santa! this room makes me think of gorgeous whitewashed cabin walls. crisp, yet cosy.

which room do you like best?

tra la la! i wish my regular posts had theme songs. just imagine i’m singing this: its time for decorate! pilgrim, where i decorate using one of my prints. this month its the woodland patchwork, available for purchase here.

my boy's bedroom

inspired by my son’s room (which really does feature this print) this is a whimsical woodland inspired bedroom. i’ve picked out the fresh greens and mustards as a not-too overwhelming major color. the fresh greens mixed with woodgrain and that striking teal sideboard means the room is colourful without being too in yo face. cute playful touches include the owl cushion and the log cushions on the bed, and of course my print. chuck in some orange storage boxes to hide the real toys away in that sideboard and no one will know how wild this woodland can get!

mature woodland

but what about those of us who are only young at heart? well here is a sophisticated, naturally inspired sitting room. a comfy leather chair, those rustic wood tables, and a colorful patchwork rug tie in with the colors of the print, but leave the whimsy strictly within the picture frame! i’m thinking a nice cozy wood cabin is the place for this room.

playful playroom

and lastly its an all out celebration of color and fun. sure its probably too much, but there isn’t a single piece in this room that doesn’t make me smile. i like the colors, but i also love the lines and the textures. i think it would be a room that would encourage play and imagination. also, i want an elephant stool!

last month i introduced you to my new monthly feature called decorate! pilgrim, where i provide a few rooms featuring my prints. this month we have the fresh and feminine stylings of “little girls are made of..” available to purchase here. little girls needn’t be little, either. have a look at the kinds of girls who should make this print part of their life…

i have to admit that this room is semi-autobiographical. i have a number of these items, but i’m biding my time until i can call that amazing desk mine! and the ice cream lamp: i’m coming for you, my sweet!

which room would you like to live in?

i may be an interior design school drop-out, but that doesn’t mean i don’t love putting rooms together! (it just means i don’t like supportive learning environments. but that’s another rant for another time…) so welcome to part one in a new series i’m calling decorate! pilgrim. see what i did there? i know right, hilarity ensues. my aim for this feature is to show you my prints in a context, and to show you ways that you could decorate with my work. you may have seen my prints, but perhaps i can show them to you in a different perspective? also, this is a way for me to vicariously live out all kinds of styles. i hope you enjoy what i put together.

i thought i’d start off with my smallest print so far, the ahoy! print. and where could it live? well first up, my clean mod style meets a distressed and salvaged style of say, an old sailor’s cabin:

the obvious connection is the colors, however i’ve also made an effort to match the patterns and themes of the print with the furnishings. the rug looks like fishing net, wouldn’t you agree? and the clock reflects the ship’s wheel in the print, as well as resembling a compass. it’s a pretty plush old captain’s cabin haha

aruba.. jamaica, ooh i wanna take you to key lago, montego.. sorry. now kokomo will be in your head all day. but i hope you find this ‘room’ as refreshing as a pina colada on a pristine white island beach! in this ‘room’ i’ve moved away from the themes of the print and just played with the colors. the patterns of the rug correspond to the side table’s cut-outs, and the pinwheel cushions. the studded headboard and chair match, though there is pleasant contrast between the shiny vinyl, and the plush velvet. would you enjoy staying in a hotel room like this? i often feel out of place in hotel rooms because they’re colour palettes are so inoffensive. we all know how much i love colour.

the mod bachelor is a sophisticated gent! he enjoyed the muted cool palette of the ahoy! print because it reminded him of his bitossi pottery collection. paired with some teak and some martini olive green pieces and this place is ready to swing. are you hip to his jive?
what do you think, have these rooms cast new light on my ahoy! design? which room do you enjoy the most?
