if you have kids you know how perilous “birthday season” can be – maybe your mother’s group or play group is full of september birthdays and come october you’re burned out from shopping and flat broke! well allow me to suggest a cute, and easy alternative: the draw! pilgrim kids gift pack. all you have to do it pick a mini card, and a 4-pack of badges. i do the arduous packing and posting and you get a cute parcel in the mail! then go pick up a classic little golden book, or activity book etc at your local store and you have yourself a fun little parcel for that birthday boy or girl. you also get change from a $20 and a sense of wellbeing from supporting an independent business (thats me)!
with ten designs to choose from, it shouldn’t be too hard to find a card for just about any kid. and did i mention the cards are blank, so if its not for a birthday – no sweat! write in your own congratulatory message and you’re set.
so keep the kid’s birthday pack in mind for your family’s next “birthday season”, or get in now and relish that smug feeling of being organized! buy them here.

you like treasures, right? well i’ve had a crafty idea… you see, i like treasures too. but i have a lot. and i don’t want to die crushed under a pile of hoarded treasure like some pirate with excellent taste in mid century artefacts. so i’m going to hold an online yard sale via my big cartel store. you can join in too if you like and maybe we can have a whole ‘thing’ going on.
why not ebay or etsy, i hear you ask. well, i had a really unpleasant experience on ebay and i’m not keen for a repeat of that, and etsy means i can’t offer you some of the newer books etc that i have to offer. i could do this sale just through the blog or via facebook but i’m choosing to use big cartel because i think it will lend an air of respectability and safety to the transaction, don’t you think? and you guys know where i live, online – so to speak, so if you have a problem you can spam the heck outta me. but i always do my best to photograph well and describe explicitly. as an online vintager i know the importance of honesty in listing, and if i wanted to shaft the lot of you i’d be selling on ebay, right? right.
when and how long? i plan to run my sale from the beginning of november for 6 weeks or until everything is sold. i may also do some cute bargains and special offers etc to make this thing triple fun with cherries on top! it would be good if we started around the same time don’t you think?
some things to consider before joining in:
treat your buyer as you would wish to be treated: be honest about your listing. if it has a crack, photograph it or describe it as best you can. sometimes people don’t mind if the thing is cracked if they know it’s coming. surprise cracks are not cool.
seriously consider shipping worldwide! the australian dollar is really good right now and so everyone i know is shopping their extremely attractive butts off. our vintage down here is good, but different. we like to buy your old stuff. please send it to us.
and pack your stuff well. no one likes buying a mint condition mug that arrives in reassemble-it-yourself pieces.
join in! you know that saying ‘one man’s trash is another’s treasure’ well, don’t be selling literal trash, but you never know – someone may be looking for that thing you’re not even sure about.
so if you’re interested add your name/URL below and closer to the time i’ll compile THE list of participants and we can all cross-shop and promote the sales. now who’s up for some de-stashing?
i’m so excited to be part of this month’s poppytalk handmade online market. i’m in such excellent company, you really should pop over and see what treasures are there to be had (hint: there’s lots of treasures to be had). here are a few of my favourites:
roddy & ginger - rawbone studio – a. favourite design
slow industries – sweetnature designs – dwell deep
moxie doll – matte stephens – magic markings art
and in other news draw! pilgrim has now opened up on big cartel. so head on over and have a look around! i’m looking forward to having special reader offers and sales in the coming future times ahead.
new! quick! LOOK! …oh shut up, shops!
shopping can be a very unglamorous when its grocery time, but now you can take a bit of draw! pilgrim with you wherever you go with the new benday birds design tote bag. 100% cotton screen printed with a groovy original design by me called ‘benday birds’ -because they’re birds, and they have benday dots on them! yay!
these swingin’ totes are 100% cotton and come in two colour choices: raspberry and pine-lime. they’re just that perfect size for stashing in your bag to drag out later at the shops, at school or anywhere you may be faced with a bag emergency. say NO! to that plastic, pass up the paper, and poo-poo those gaudy promotional polypropylene fabric bags shops give out. buy a draw! pilgrim benday birds tote and carry your shopping in style: available from the draw! pilgrim store… but hurry because these are limited to 45 of each color.
so, what’s your flavour?
