seafood platter by kate jenkins
“Using her background in fashion and talent for design, Kate creates amazing, innovative crocheted pictures – each one an original. Kate’s philosophy that anything can be created from yarn as long as it is made with love, has been translated into several very successful exhibitions throughout the UK and USA, including a recent one at Liberty of London.”
isn’t this seafood platter amazing? i highly recommend clicking the link above and seeing more of her work, the cute package of ‘sewn vesta’ matches made me giggle. amigurumi food is popular, i know, but i think i enjoy the realistic quality to kate’s work. i wish i could make a sequinned shrimp – or had some use for one!

Imagine Finding Me, Kamakura, Japan,
by Chino Otsuka
The photo above would appear to be a casual family snap from the beach, but in actual fact both those figures are the same person – artist Chino Otsuka, in 1976 and 2005.
Imagine: Finding Me, is Otsuka’s series of “double self-portraits,” using “a time machine of digital tools.” I’m sure i’m not alone in being jealous of Otsuka’s time machine! There’s many photos i’d love to step back into, just for a little while.
I really like the way Otsuka elder appears as the guardian to her younger self. The result is pretty magical.
