step into my time machine and be transported to some posts you may have missed from december 2009!

i shared with you the place in my home where i like to take five minutes peace .

in my book pile was the whimsical poetry and illustrations of pirouettes.

the columbia minerva knit fashions part 2 was an anticipated sequel of incredible seventies youth knit fashions!

one of my vintage graphis magazine finds  were the 76/77 fashion ladies illustration.

and lastly i introduced you to a favorite from my wardrobe.

please mind the gap when exiting the time machine. we hope you had a pleasant journey and travel with us again next month!

ps: the awesome site kid style file featured a very lovely post about me yesterday, written by my longest serving friend! thankfully she dished no dirt, and was just lovely!

once every month, i invite you to step into the draw! pilgrim time machine to look back and recall a handful of posts you may have missed from six months ago. the engines are fired, the clocks calibrated and the calendars are revved.. back to october ’09 we go!

graphic

its the very first ‘as seen one etsy’ post, featuring birds, butterflies and a walrus. not a combination you see everyday, but on this blog is pretty run of the mill. pass me another walrus!

graphic

i had a black and white theme week to give everyone’s eyes a rest from all the color, and showed my vintage children’s picture book ‘the garden of abdul gazasi‘ by chris van allsburg. its filled with fine graphite pencil illustrations!

graphic

my lovely boy peter from i heart guitar wrote about some cool retro revival electric guitars. if you like guitars that look like rockets, cars or refrigerators then you’ll enjoy this post.

graphic

and another part of my black and white theme week was a series of graphic black and white fashions.

and finally, here is a look back at a silly post on some fab ’70s sears catalog fashions. shame this time machine won’t go back far enough to snag me some of those dresses!

hi there, welcome to a new week. how was your weekend? monday was a holiday in melbourne, for labour day, so its been a slow start to the week here. we had crazy storms all weekend with giant hail and flooding and all kinds of chaos, so i think a day off was definitely what the city needed. summer definitely ended with a bang… and a splash!

speaking of endings, i’ve finished up the blogging your way course and i wanted to share with you some of the fab blogs i ‘met’ in the last 7 weeks. this course was such an excellent experience. it was run by holly becker of decor8 ‘fame’ and you couldn’t find a more genuine, supportive and pragmatic teacher if you tried. there is word that the course will be run again later this year so keep your eye on decor8 for news. its worth every penny!

so onto some of my fellow BYW graduates! this is just a fraction of all the participants, but these ladies made an extra special impression on me.

allison of bigprint little is a fellow melburnian and illustrator. her blog is all dreamy colors and textures cataloguing her inspiration, ideas and work. pop over and see what she’s whipped up for house and garden magazine.

simple blueprint is one very clean and elegant blog filled with eye candy. go visit and tell me your eyes don’t absolutely pig out on all that pretty! i dare ya!

here we have another antipodean blog (that’s a fancy word for ‘aussie’). gift tags and garlands, oh my! go have a look at the gorgeous paper goods on paperklip design. did i mention there are garlands? ah, lovely!

emily from sassy smolak is a girl with a blog full of great! i definitely enjoy seeing what treasures she’s found and she seems to have that magic blogging skill that eludes me: brevity! and there’s pictures! and she’s nice! yay!

artlovejoy, another australian with a great eye for loveliness, and a penchant for crocheting too! her crochet squares are prettier than mine… i think this is what’s known as square envy.

and lastly but not leastly, modern kiddo! i may be a bit biased on account of being their designer, but alix and dottie make this a blog not to be missed. incredible vintage finds, cute kids, this blog makes it a breeze to style your sprog (that’s a child, to you un-british folk. isn’t it a great word?)

speaking of great words, i’m tagging this post ‘blogflog’ because i’m sick of the whole ‘blog love’ phrase. i want to really spruik these blogs to you, i like them, so you should visit them, ergo i am ‘flogging’ them to you. its a bit of a colloquialism crash course here today. i blame cumulative lack of sleep and impending mind loss!

did you see i cracked the 100 post landmark last week? its been 6 full months since i started the draw! pilgrim blog so its time for a little retrospective, isn’t it? i’ve gained readers, and life experience, and blogging skillzz (sic) since then so allow me to transport you to a more primitive time, haha. settle down with some fine wine and cheese and enjoy some classic pilgrim.

one of australia’s leading entertainment and news sites ‘the vine’ featured me in their arts section! see me, my work and a tour of my studio in ‘a bubblegum rainbow studio visit

did you catch part one of the equally amazing and bizarre columbia minerva ‘fables and fabulous yarns‘ pattern book? such great patterns! but who thought to make it part story book, part pattern book?! a genius, that’s who.

i shared the beautiful illustrations from my favorite picture book ‘wings on wednesday‘ i’ve loved reading the comments that have come in since, from others who grew up reading and loving it too. if you read it or liked a similar book, leave a comment! i’d love to know.

i detailed the finishing touch to my bedroom before and after, the transformation of a vintage wicker head board. i still love waking up in this bright and sunny bedroom. its even good for curling up and reading in a sunbeam in the afternoon.

aww look! its one of my first round ups: fab fabrics, flickr’s florals. do you enjoy seeing etsy and flickr inspiration round ups? i certainly enjoy curating them. i like to think of it as ‘window shopping’ because there is no way i could afford or store all of the amazing fabrics i find! haha you’re welcome, bank account!

whether you’re a new reader or you’ve seen all this before, i hope you’ve enjoyed this look back. its interesting for me, having a blog to look back through, because i’ve never been a journal-keeper. i hope at draw! pilgrim’s first anniversary we can share some more fun memories together. wait, isn’t the traditional first anniversary gift ‘paper’? maybe i’ll print the whole blog out and post it to each and every one of you! better start printing now…

have you seen modern kiddo, the new children’s clothing blog from strawberry lemonade’s alex tyler and her friend dottie? it is the place to find cute and quirky duds for the small person in your life. if you read strawberry lemonade you’ll know what amazing taste alex has, so you won’t be disappointed in the fab finds on modern kiddo.

it was quite the honor for me to design their banners, and what could be better than having the best dressed kid on the block without any of the legwork?!

draw! pilgrim

i did it! i made it a whole month of being a bloggerella, five days a week. its been a steep learning curve, but thank you, for visiting and for commenting and all being very lovely people.

before we look back, why don’t you head over to the vine for a visit to my studio and some very nice words about me!

so what might you have missed in this whirlwind of a month?

i showed you some favorite things from around my home in ‘things i already covet

i learned to stop worrying and love yellow!

there was plenty of vintage graphis magazine goodness.

i made a cute moss terrarium!

do you remember seeing the cute picture books ‘little oleg‘ and ‘wings on wednesday‘?

i showed you my mellow yellow bedroom!

… and we looked at some posters i made

and just the other day, we giggled at some retro knit fashions. (its a bit off topic, but check out these vintage hostesses! so cute!)

coming in the next month on draw! pilgrim: a spectacular birthday party, some new handmade crafty creations and something extra special i hope you’re really going to like!

so, stick around my lovelies, because the fun has only just begun!

what have you enjoyed seeing on draw! pilgrim? any requests for the coming month?
